What if everyone chooses Chopsticks?

Everyone will be included.  100 pianos.  You might be there for half a second or 10 of them.  Maybe as a one-off appearance or provide a recurring element. But the more selected the same song is, the more chopped up it's likely to become.

The Song Selection Register on this site will provide everyone with visibility of what songs have been already selected, how many participants are involved so far & how close we are to 100.

We'll also email a weekly summary to all those involved up to that point.

We will cap a song selection at 3 submissions. If you send the 4th we'll email back to say that one's already at 3 and to choose a Plan B.

What about copyright?

The purpose behind this project is to create something original. So even if some of the source material is familiar, the finished product won't be. Any songs contributed that have copyright & publishing restrictions will not be recognisable in the end track*. And any older songs used that are out of copyright may ring a bell in the final result or they may also end up as an unfamiliar thread in a new and original tapestry of sound.

*Depending on the final funding available, some known tunes submitted may get publishing clearance but even these will be reduced to a snippet of the original woven into the rest.

What is needed from me?

All we need from you is an email address, your name or alias & of course a file with your piano.

The file can be ma4, mp3 or wav.

Record as much or as little as you wish. Just remember it'll sound different in the end.

When?

This could take awhile and that's fine. It can take as long as it takes.

As long as it takes to find 100 people who are enthusiastic about playing a part in the big idea!

We'll keep you updated weekly on how close we are. In the meantime, take your time then submit.
